Developing Enhanced TSO-DSO Information and Data Exchange Based on a Novel Use Case Methodology

The growing penetration of renewable energy sources (RES) in the electrical power sector has increased amount distributed generation (DG) units connected at distribution system level. In this context, new balancing challenges have arisen, creating need for a novel use case methodology to enable an active role level such that transmission operators (TSOs) can coordinate with (DSOs) regard resources purposes. study, exploitation DSO-connected purposes market environment is proposed and evaluated via business (BUC) based on categorization IEC 62913-1. More specifically, order address different situations, two scenarios are considered BUC. first one represents data exchange between TSO, DSO, service provider (BSP). second alternative scenario where exchanged directly TSO DSO also takes BSP. BUC was developed validate required modeling mechanisms DSOs TSOs exploit overall across time scales.
